You can get to Hönö and Hälsö with Västtrafik's local traffic. Several buses depart from central Gothenburg to either Burö Färjeläge (if you're paddling from Hälsö) or Hönö Norra (if you're hiking).

To get to Hönö and Hälsö, take the ferry towards Öckerö. The ferry leaves from the Lilla Varholmen stop and docks at the Hönö Pinan ferry landing. NOTE: Choose the ferry to Öckerö!
It is possible to take the bike or car out here as well, road 155 from Gothenburg goes towards Öckerö, and at the ferry landing you drive on board the ferry towards Öckerö. The ferry between Lilla Varholmen and Hönö Pinan is free and the crossing takes about 12 minutes.
The ferry takes on board cars, camper vans, caravans, trucks, buses, bicycles and pedestrians.
Ferry departures
To get to Hälsö, turn right at the first roundabout after the ferry terminal. Follow this road across Öckerö and towards Hälsö (there is a bridge connection) and the Burö ferry terminal. After passing a sharp left turn in central Hälsö, one uphill and one downhill, you come to a four-way intersection. Turn left here, then right and immediately left again. Park along the fence on the right side when you can see the bay.
To get to Ersdalen nature reserve: follow Göteborgsvägen 155 from the ferry port to the first roundabout, drive straight ahead and follow the road until you have ICA on the left, turn right and drive for about 200 meters until you have the hostel Havskatten on the right. Here you turn left onto Ersdalsvägen. Follow this for about 200 meters until it ends. Park at Ersdalen's parking lot.
